The Armed Forces Education Trust has supported Service children for over 160 years. Our charity supports children and young adults, wherever they currently reside, whose education has been compromised or put at risk as a result of parents’ past or current service in any of the UK Armed Forces.

The Trust is dedicated to supporting the educational needs of children from UK Armed Forces families. Their mission is to provide financial assistance to dependents of service personnel, ensuring they are not disadvantaged by unique circumstances relating to military life.

The Trust offers a wide range of grants designed to address the specific challenges faced by Forces families and their children. The Trust gives educational grants for school fees, tutoring, and emotional support for children who have experienced disruptions or difficulties in their education due to parental deployments, mobility, or medical discharge. They also give grants directly to schools to support larger numbers of service children to help them overcome these issues and achieve their potential.

A growing area of support by the Trust is for service children with additional educational needs, in particular when relocation between counties or nations has caused serious disruption to their education.

The Trust’s flexibility and adaptability demonstrate a commitment to continually meet the needs of the Armed Forces community in real time. Unlike many charities, the Trust recognises that the need for funding does not come at distinct points during the year and will seek applications at the time of need.

The Trust actively helps families find alternative support when they are unable to provide it and also works hard to forge relationships with other charities, such as other members of the Educational Trusts Forum, to seek joint funding where appropriate.
