The Royal Medical Foundation is a registered charity, founded in 1855 by Dr John Propert. We support registered doctors and their families who are in financial hardship, by offering emergency grants and signposting to wider support. 

In limited circumstances we can assist with children’s school fees, to help doctors and their families regain stability in times of crisis, such as bereavement, family breakdown, or other unexpected loss of income – this is primarily where children are already part-way through fee-paying education and any changes in their schooling would cause disruption, such as when they are part-way through their examination years, or where a child’s specific needs can only be met via provision at a fee-paying school.

How to apply:

If you are in financial need and you are a doctor who is, or has been, registered with the UK General Medical Council and you are living in the UK (or you are the widow/widower/dependent child of a doctor who is, or has been, registered and you are living in the UK), you can apply to The Royal Medical Foundation for support. All our grant decisions are made by our trustee board, who meet every three months. If you are applying for school fees, please make your application well in advance of the school year wherever possible (for example, if you are applying for assistance from September, you should send your grant application to us in February of the same year).
