We only support pupils in Years 12 and 13. The school may be an independent school or a state boarding school and the pupil will be a bona fide A-level or IB candidate.

Examples of circumstances leading to a need for financial help may include death, accident, severe illness, divorce, desertion or loss of employment. Consideration will also be given to cases where there is a major educational, social or pastoral problem. Emmott grants are awarded only if the school provides a significant bursary, typically at least one-third of the fees. An exception can be made if a pupil is a boarder at a state boarding school which is unable to offer a bursary.

Grants are not usually made where there is a sibling who is also in fee-paying education, unless they are already in Year 10, 11 or 12. It is not our usual practice to award grants when parents/guardians are not UK taxpayers. In addition to helping with the main fees, we may sometimes be able to contribute to necessary extra expenses, such as school bus travel or examination fees.
