The Girls’ Day School Trust

Registered Charity No. 306983

The Girls Day School Trust (GDST) is the UKs leading family of independent girls schools, educating nearly 20,000 students aged 3 to 18, supported by more than 4,500 talented and dedicated staff.

At the GDST, we believe every girl should have the opportunity to learn without limits. Our bursary programme is central to this commitment ñ opening doors for bright, motivated girls to benefit from an exceptional GDST education, regardless of family background or financial circumstances.

Each year, hundreds of students across our schools receive a means-tested GDST bursary, with many receiving support for 50% or more of their school fees. A significant number are awarded full bursaries, and some also hold scholarships in recognition of their talents and achievements.

We want every bursary recipient to experience the full richness of GDST life. For those on full bursaries, we provide additional support to help cover the costs of uniforms, travel, trips and extra-curricular activities.

Bursaries and scholarships are available to students aged 11 and above at GDST senior schools, with most awards made at entry to Year 7 or Sixth Form. The level of support ranges from 30% to 100% of school fees, depending on family circumstances and available funding.

Eligibility is assessed through a confidential, means-tested process that considers family income, assets and other resources. Awards are reviewed annually to ensure that support goes where it is most needed.
