Advice to Parents or Guardians seeking assistance
A good home and school life are the core foundations for every young person. Circumstances such as parental or guardian illness, unemployment or bereavement can interrupt an educational path to the detriment of emotional development and educational progress. While we do our best to assist as many applicants as possible, applying for assistance does not guarantee that funding can be provided.
Most of our charities carry out a means-tested financial assessment to ensure that funding is provided to those applicants in the greatest need. We recommend contacting your chosen charity directly using the information provided on the individual charity pages in order to find out more.
Our member trusts are here to provide the support you need
The Naval Children’s Charity supports the wellbeing and development of children and young people under 25 whose parents serve or have served in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, QARNNS, WRNS, or Royal Fleet Auxiliary.
The Andrew Reed Foundation supports children who have lost the support of one or both parents by offering a Foundation bursary to attend Reed’s School. Entry points are Year 7 and Year 9 for boys and Year 12( for boys and girls). Priority is given to students where there is a need to board.
The Royal Medical Foundation supports doctors, who are or have been registered with the General Medical Council and who are in financial hardship, and their families. In limited circumstances we can assist with children’s school fees to maintain educational stability when families are facing challenging times – this is primarily when children are already part-way through fee-paying education and any changes to their schooling would cause disruption, or where a child’s specific needs can only be met via provision at a fee-paying school.
RMNEF is a children’s educational charity funding the education of British children of Merchant Navy seafarers, professional sea-going fishermen, and RNLI lifeboat crew members, past or present, unable to afford schooling and associated costs for their children.
