The Lord Wandsworth Foundation – supporting young people for over 100 years
The Lord Wandsworth Foundation grew from the bequest left by Lord Wandsworth. His will contained instructions to establish an orphanage bearing his name, for children of agricultural workers. From this beginning the College has evolved into a co-educational day and boarding school for children aged 11-18 with a mission to nurture inwardly self-confident, outwardly modest, curious and passionate young individuals who are ambitious to go and make a positive difference in the world.
At the heart of the College, which sits in 1200 acres of Hampshire farmland and countryside, Lord Wandsworth’s legacy lives on through the work of the Lord Wandsworth Foundation. The Foundation supports children who have been bereaved of one or both parents or who have lost their support through other circumstances to benefit from the stability, structure and pastoral care provided by our award-winning boarding environment.

When assessing applications, we take into account the need for pastoral care and a supportive, structured environment, as well as the likely impact of a Foundation place, both on the child and their wider family.
Foundation places are primarily available for entry into Year 7 (1st Form) and Sixth Form. However, we do sometimes have availability at other entry points and would welcome a conversation if you have a child who would benefit from a place. Parents/guardians may approach the Foundation directly or via a third party, such as a primary school or children’s charity. We are a Royal National Children’s Springboard Foundation school and work closely with a number of other charities. All Foundation pupils are expected to meet the normal academic entrance requirements of the College. Awards are means-tested and subject to annual review.
